Current employees on the Industrial Estate may move to the prison for employment and leave firms with recruitment problems

Wrexham County Borough Council response:

“The Firestone Site is a 110 acre brownfield site. At the end of 2011, the Council unsuccessfully sought Enterprise Zone status for the site. In 2012, the Council commissioned work to understand the development needs of the site. Further to the Council’s approval of 5 February 2013, it was being acquired by the Council from the Welsh Government in order to bring the site forward for commercial development. It would at some point in the not-so-distant future be developed by industry. Whatever industry that was, it would have been likely to pose the same threat to some employers.”
